The Roy family: Petty, dysfunctional, and an all-around joy to watch as they feud. This newest chapter of HBO’s Succession pulls no punches. If anything, it’s all the more brutal to watch in this week’s episode.
In a family that is just slightly less functional than mine, the Roys exemplify everything wrong with their unit: Betrayal, separation, and a disdain for every family member outside their alliances. At this early season point, we see the Roy heirs ally together to essentially screw their father over. But, knowing the characters, this won’t last long.
“Rehearsal” is not only a fitting second episode to the show’s final season. It sets the show’s conclusion into motion. Logan’s “apology” to his children, Connor’s crestfallen attempt to stand up to his family, and, most importantly, Roman’s turncoat effort to side with his father after a slight show of affection. And, of course, no Succession episode would be complete without Cousin Greg showcasing a top-notch example of cringe.
And it’s definitely trending on Twitter. With my feed dominated by the hashtag #SuccessionHBO, I can’t really deny people’s impressions. Here are some of my favorite of the weekend’s viral Succession reaction tweets!
